Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel compound that contains a number of amenities in addition to the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
