Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; still, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight tables.
